Jury convicts man in Raytown murder

A Jackson County jury late Wednesday returned guilty verdicts against Falonzo Davis in connection with the fatal shooting in 2014 of Steven Jones, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.

The jury recommended sentences of life and 30 years on Davis’ convictions of Murder 2nd Degree and Armed Criminal Action. A judge will sentence Davis at a future hearing.

According to court records, Davis shot the victim multiple times after the victim had pulled into a parking lot outside a Raytown educational facility on Missouri 350. Davis shot the victim after he opened the victim’s car door and fired at Jones.

Assistant Prosecuting Attorneys Michael Hunt and Colin McClain led the prosecution for the state of Missouri.
