Fatal Morning Crash Victim Identified
Raytown, MO – The driver, and lone occupant, of the fatal single-vehicle crash that occurred just after 1:00 a.m. Monday morning (January 04, 2016) on Raytown Rd. at about 85th Street, has been identified as Justin M. Cusick, a 31 year old Raytown, Missouri, man. The man’s family has been notified.
A resident called police just after 1:00 a.m. Monday morning to report what looked like a car on fire on Raytown Rd. at about 85th St. The first officer to arrive found the scene of a crash involving a car that had overturned and was fully engulfed in flames. Before crash investigators arrived, the first officers on the scene discovered debris from the crash spread for about a block or more. The car had been traveling south on Raytown Rd. and the first signs of an apparent crash were noted just north of 84th St. The car came to rest at 85th St. The driver, trapped in the wreckage, was dead by the time officers and firefighters arrived. There were indications that excessive speed contributed to the crash.
The investigation is ongoing.
