Social Media Messages Concerns Parents
Raytown Police received calls this morning at 6:27 AM from parents of students at Raytown High School regarding text messages that were forwarded to their children. The message contained a threat to harm students at “Rhs” high school. Raytown Police contacted the Raytown school administration, school security, and Raytown Officers responded to the high school to investigate the threat. Raytown school administrators along with Raytown Police escorted students into the building from the bus drop off area to ensure the safety of the students. Raytown High School is now following a regular schedule for the remainder of the day.
During the investigation it was found that several other schools throughout the nation also received the same threat through social media. The incident is currently under investigation.
