Resident Fires Shots After Encountering Armed Burglary Suspect
Raytown, MO – Raytown Police were called to a residence in the 8300 block of Pershing, Thursday morning, 03-24-2016, around 10:00 a.m., in regards to a disturbance and shots fired. Officers arrived and found that a resident of the address had arrived home and encountered a person inside the residence. The suspect did not live at the residence, but was known to the resident. The suspect was armed with a gun. The resident, who was also armed, fired his gun to scare the suspect away. The suspect fled the area and was not located. It was not believed that the suspect was injured. No injuries were reported, and no arrests have been made. The resident is cooperating with police and the investigation is underway.
When the initial shots fired call was received, the Raytown School District staff was advised immediately, because of a high school’s proximity to the incident, only blocks away.
