Standoff Ends With Arrest of Shooting Suspect
Raytown, MO – Raytown Police were called to an apartment complex in the 6500 block of Raytown Road, Wednesday afternoon, 12-21-2016, around 5:30 p.m., in regards to shots being fired. A man had fired shots at a car during an argument, and then ran into the apartment complex. Officers surrounded an apartment that they believed the man was hiding in. They attempted to make contact with anyone in the apartment, but were unsuccessful. The Raytown Police SWAT and Crisis Negotiations Teams arrived to assist in peacefully resolving the standoff.
At about 7:30 p.m., contact was made with the people inside the apartment and they exited the apartment. The occupants were two adults, a man and a woman, and two children. The man was taken into custody without incident.
No one was injured during the incident. The relationship between the involved individuals, as well as the nature of the argument preceding the shots, is still under investigation.
