Standoff Ends Peacefully, Man Taken into Custody

Raytown, MO – Raytown Police were called to a residence in the 8800 block of E. 72 Street on Wednesday evening, 07-19-17, at about 8:45 pm, regarding a disturbance, with a male and female screaming. Before officers arrived, a second call was received that gunshots had been fired. Officers arrived and contacted two witnesses who said that they saw a man fire a gun outside the residence. Officers set up a perimeter.

The Raytown SWAT and Crisis Negotiations Teams were called in to attempt to resolve the situation peacefully.

Hours later, at about 1:30 am on Thursday morning, 07-20-17, after speaking with negotiators, a child and two adults, one male and one female, peacefully exited the house. The adult male was taken into custody without incident. No injuries were reported.

As of 3:50 am, detectives have cleared the scene but continue to investigate and charges have not been filed yet.

    Finally! These people have been a problem for quite some time. I’m scared to drive past that corner.
