230 Pounds Of Prescription Pharmaceuticals Collected During National Drug Take-Back Day
Raytown, MO-On October 27th, 2018 between the hours of 10 A.M & 2:00 P.M., Raytown Police Department, in cooperation with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), conducted “National Drug Take-Back Day,” resulting in 230 pounds of prescription pharmaceuticals collected.
During the event, Raytown Officers and volunteers, were stationed at the collection site, located in the parking lot of Raytown City Hall. The collection site allowed the public access to bring their expired, unused and unwanted prescription medication to the drop-off site for disposal.
Due to high prescription drug abuse across the United States, the Drug Take-Back Day initiative addresses public safety and health issues regarding prescription pharmaceuticals by providing a safe disposal option.
At the conclusion of the event, all collected prescription medications were turned over to the DEA.
